Description
Earnsdale Reservoir and Darwen Tower
A watercolour inspired by a photograph taken by Stephen Cope, of Darwen. It shows a tranquil autumn day across Earnsdale Reservoir towards the tower.
Darwen Tower stands on the skyline under a soft, washed sky. Below it, the hillside glows with russet bracken and the first touches of autumn colour. Silver birches and leafy greens frame the view, and a dry stone wall winds along the water’s edge. In the foreground, yellow-tipped reeds are mirrored in the still surface of the reservoir.
What you’ll love:
- The calm, peaceful mood of an autumn day beside the water
- Darwen Tower, a much-loved local landmark, as the focal point
- Warm bracken oranges set against fresh greens and soft blues
- The gentle reflections on the water, painted in delicate washes
- A lovely keepsake for anyone who knows and loves Darwen and its moors
