Description
Great Harwood. Dean Clough Reservoir
Built in the 1870s in two halves, divided by a central embankment, Dean Clough Reservoir was created to supply water to the booming textile and cotton mills of nearby Great Harwood, which once operated over 20 active mills.
Today the mills are gone, but the water remains. Loved by many over the years, the circular 3 mile walk around the water is a favourite for locals and visitors alike. This painting captures the stillness of the reservoir and the landscape around it, painted in soft, layered watercolour.
