Set in the grounds of The Beeches, a handsome 19th-century Victorian mansion, Standish Alberts is a much-loved, stylish restaurant and wedding venue with a story as warm as its welcome.
The house was once the home of J B Almond, the brewer who owned the brewery in the town centre. Today, its period character, from elegant rooms to sweeping Victorian proportions, provides a beautiful backdrop for everything from long, leisurely dinners to once-in-a-lifetime celebrations.
The name is a nod to the owners’ Uncle Albert, in whose tool shed their very first restaurant opened. What began as a small, homespun idea has grown into one of the area’s best-known and most popular places to eat and celebrate
