Description

 The Viaduct, Feniscowles

In Feniscowles just west of Cherry Tree, the Victorian railway structure still stands over one of Lancashire’s busiest roads.

It was built in the late 1860s and joined the main Preston to Blackburn line at Cherry Tree Junction. The line was built mainly to move goods, though it later carried passengers too. In April 1955, it even carried the Royal Train, with Queen Elizabeth on board.

Today the trains are gone, but the 3 arches remain, a quiet reminder of the age when the railway shaped the landscape of Lancashire.
